Exoskeletons meet craftsmanship: a visit to the Wildwuchs brewery in Hamburg

What does modern support for physically demanding tasks in small craft businesses look like? To find out, we took our active shoulder exoskeleton S700 to the Wildwuchs brewery in Hamburg —a manufacturer known for its handmade organic beer and sustainable production. The goal was to work with founder Fiete on site to find out where exoskeletons can provide useful support in a brewery.
Physical work with brains – selected areas of application for the S700
There are many manual processes in the brewery: lifting beer kegs, placing bottles in the filling system, or lifting crates from shelves. This is exactly where the S700 was able to provide selective relief—for example, when working overhead or repeatedly lifting heavy loads from a shelf.
Fiete, the founder of Wildwuchs, was able to try out the exoskeleton for himself and share his impressions with us. This led to a valuable dialogue about ergonomics, everyday usability, and possible application scenarios. Fiete was particularly impressed by how comfortable the S700 is to wear: "When the exoskeleton is adjusted correctly, it's really comfortable—like a good hiking backpack!"
Learning together – and thinking ahead
Even though shoulder exoskeletons are only useful in selected areas of application in the brewery, the visit was a complete success. Because it shows that innovation begins with exchange. Direct feedback from practical experience provides us with important insights for the further development of our products—and for new ideas on how technology and craftsmanship can be meaningfully combined.
A big thank you to Fiete from Wildwuchs for the exciting day at the brewery!
